Gently traipsing the line between experimentation and melody over four albums, Xiu Xiu have confirmed their status as one of the most exciting acts of this century. It’s a pretty huge call to be making, but over the last couple of years there’s been very little that challenges ones listening in quite the same way that Xiu Xiu does.
Having captured their honesty and irony in equal parts on record, the now two piece Xiu Xiu have collectively crafted a live set that does their recordings justice. In the vast melee of cardboard cut-out musicians that dictate contemporary music, Xiu Xiu offers something different, and for the first time ever is bringing that live show to Australia.
To celebrate their imminent arrival, Jamie Stewart and Caralee McElroy have gone into the studio to record this limited edition Australian Tour EP, recorded exclusively for their April tour. Exploring thoroughly the full extent of Xiu Xiu’s repertoire, the EP captures the noise, the random fragility, the unique sensibilities and the spontaneous expressions that Xiu Xiu so ingeniously execute.
We’re excited. You should be too.
