Uniqueness is a rarity when it comes to contemporary music – how do you acknowledge everything that’s come before, let alone contribute something meaningful to that evolution of music? Somehow Blonde Redhead do it, and with seeming effortlessness.
Seven albums into their music making career and the artistic progression doesn’t appear to be letting up. On the just released 23 the New York based three piece unfold their musical explorations with greater depth, texture and experimentation. This July get ready as they unfold it live, to a new audience.
For the very first time Blonde Redhead (their 2004 tour was unfortunately cancelled) will bring their economy of style to Australian shores, playing two very special shows. Showcasing tracks from their expansive back catalogue, Blonde Redhead will treat audiences to a sound that has been propelling the American underground forward, sideways, indeed – every way thought possible – since their inception. 2000’s Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons unveiled a world of sonic exploration rarely equaled, a world that Blonde Redhead have crafted with meticulous subtlety and substance since. In 2004 Misery is a Butterfly confirmed the striking intensity this band had to offer, and now 23 presents, once more, the intricacies offered through the unique imagination and creativity of this collective. We’d tell you what to expect from their live show, but we’re not bold enough to predict what they’re capable of. All we’re willing to say is prepare for the exquisite.
