It is with great pleasure that we announce the debut Australian tour from Cate Le Bon. The Welsh trailblazer of avant-pop will tour the country in support of her fourth record, Crab Day, a harvest of psych musings that was released in early 2016.
With an ear for outsider alternative Welsh acts that share her mother tongue, like Super Furry Animals and Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci and a soft spot for gritty B-movies, Le Bon finds solace in the weird for her creative palate. Her records are as musings on the menial, like the effect of her pet deaths (an alternative title for Me Oh My) or ceramic cluttered apartments that could be likened to “Mug Museums”. Le Bon continues to document her whimsical outlook on Crab Day; Filled with her trademark childlike, pastoral delivery with tipsy, nonsensical lyrics ““I wanna be your motion picture… My heart’s in my supper”- taken from track, “Wonderful”). She leads with magnetism and confidence through the often-absurd passages generated from her lucid contemplations.
With sounds combining the marching band accuracy and upbeat jangle of The Beatles paired with the grating guitars and psychedelic deviations of The Velvet Underground, Cate Le Bon’s mastery of controlled chaos is not something to be missed live.
