“Whether you’re looking to fall in love this summer or pine away unrequited, you won't find a better soundtrack than this.” – Rolling Stone
Toronto pop outfit, Alvvays are heading to Australia next year for their first tour downunder. The five-piece have been cruising on waves of admiration after releasing their surf-tinged, melancholy laden self-titled debut LP mid last year.
The band led by vocalist Molly Rankin, previously a fiddle player in the Rankin Family folk collective of yesteryear, transformed herself with bottle of peroxide and an ear for bands like The Sundays and Teenage Fanclub. Joined by high school friends, keyboardist Kerri MacLellan, guitarist Alec O'Hanley, bassist Brian Murphy, and drummer Phil MacIsaac the five-piece create sounds far from Rankins’ folk beginnings.
With gorgeous shimmering melodies paired with swoon-worthy vocals, Alvvays’ sounds make for a truly refreshing listen. Their music dwells on what it was to be a twenty-something, mulling through life and love.
Post-release of their sublime debut album, Alvvays gained wide praise from fans and critics alike. This led to tours with indie peers such as Belle and Sebastian, Real Estate, The Decemberists and performances at major festivals like Glastonbury, Reading and FYF.
With new material in the works and a selection of fast classics in tow their energetic live performance is one not to miss. Fall in love or ease your broken heart with a charismatic performance from Alvvays.
