So chuffed to announce that Popfrenzy is bringing Welsh avant-pop singer/songwriter Cate Le Bon out to Australia for the first time this October. Since rising to attention with 2009's Me Oh My, Le Bon has turned out four albums of otherworldly and much loved guitar pop. Her latest Crab Day has been described as "a wonderfully disordered junkshop of a record and a pleasure to explore.” (The Observer)
Cate Le Bon headlines Sydney's Newtown Social Club on Wednesday October 5th and Perth's Mojos on Sunday October 9th.
Popfrenzy are very excited to be bringing out LA natives, Bleached are coming to Australia for the very first time this spring.
Cutting their teeth - and most likely getting a few bruises scrambling around LA dives as part of cult punk outfit, Mika Miko, Jess and Jen Clavin went on to form Bleached, recruiting Micayla Grace on bass duties. The female trio released Ride Your Heart in 2013, an scrappy, fuzz pop ode to shitty boyfriends and being young that earned them wide praise and offers to stages across the world.
Sure to recreate familiar scenes from the infamous all-ages regular haunt, The Smell and other Cali dives, expect a raw wild set from the seasoned rock and rollers. Come along for Bleached playing old faves and awesome newbies from their latest, Welcome the Worms.
This Friday, May 13th, Eagulls will release their new album, Ullages.
The UK post-punk outfit’s sophomore album follows 2014’s self-titled debut and spans 11 tracks. It was recorded in a converted church in the band’s hometown of Leeds and mixed by Craig Silvey (Nine Inch Nails, Depeche More. According to an official statement, Ullages recalls “the shimmering opulence of Cocteau Twins, the guitar lines of Smiths-era Johnny Marr, and the ominous gloom of Disintegration/Pornography-era The Cure.”
In February last year we brought the recently renamed Hinds (FKA Deers) to small stages around the East coast, far from their home of Madrid. Having spent the following 12 months absent again from Spain they’ve graced the stages of the most illustrious festivals, from Glastonbury, Festival Internacional de Benicàssim, Best Kept Secret to SXSW, as well as extensive international touring. Following on from their EP, Barn (2014), came the their debut LP, Leave Me Alone released earlier this year, the latest product of the ultimate indie rock girl-gang comprised of Ana, Carlotta, Ade and Amber.
